I want to start sharing some at home workouts because part of a Primal/Paleo lifestyle includes physical fitness. However, not everyone has access to a gym or even knows where to start, so for those that would like some extra guidance, I’m going to post some weekly workouts here. I want you to know, you do not need a gym membership to be in shape. In fact, in all the years I’ve been going to the gym and working out (10+) the best results I’ve seen have been from working out at home. I have done every type of fitness program you could imagine, from Tae Bo, step aerobics, running, HIIT, body building, and I was even a Zumba instructor for a few years.
About a year ago I started working out at home and even gave up my gym membership which was the scariest thing ever for someone who’s had one for over 10 years. I got some cheap equipment off of Craigslist and have never looked back since. Slowly I’ve been adding to my home equipment and I’ve really enjoyed the convenience of working out at home. The older I get, the less time I have for working out. In my early 20’s I was able to spend a few hours each day in the gym but lately I’m lucky to get in a 30 minute workout a few times a week. There’s always work, laundry to fold, dishes to wash, dogs to be walked, a child who needs to be picked up from after school activities, meals to cook, more dishes to be cleaned, a husband… I know you can relate to this. Plus I’ve been dealing with some health issues that have been causing me to have a doctors appointment at least a couple times a week. This is why I love Crossfit-style workouts. They are quick, intense, and effective workouts that take me less than 30 minutes to complete AND I’m not wasting time driving to the gym or worrying about how stylin’ my workout clothes are.
My weekly workouts consist of about 2 Crossfit-style workouts per week, 1 or 2 days of running, and 1 or 2 days of more conventional style weight lifting. I’ll share the workout that requires the least amount of equipment so that anyone can do it, regardless of their home set up. Also I’ll be making the Pinterest-friendly images of the workout so that you can save it to your Pinterest board for conveniently referencing while you’re working out.
Now go put on some tunes and get after it!
