My objective for this blog is simply to share with you how to create healthier dishes that are fun, easy and approachable. I am not a trained chef and I do not claim to be better at cooking than anyone. I just hope be able to inspire someone who may have lost their passion for cooking to step foot back in the kitchen and proudly tie on your apron. You can create a healthier life for you and your family by cooking whole food dishes and I’m just here to share with you a few of my favorites!

I am from Eau Claire, WI but relocated a few years ago to the Hamakua Coast on the Big Island of Hawaii, just north of quaint little Hilo. I live there with my husband, daughter, 2 Australian Cattle Dogs, and about 50 chickens (yikes!!).
I eat what you would call a Primal or Paleo style diet – But I say Primal in my blog title because I truly believe that strict paleo does not work for everyone – including me. Sometimes ya just gotta add in a little goat cheese or some white potatoes here and there to really spice things up, you know??
After not feeling well the majority of my adult life, and being diagnosed with hypothyroidism, IBS, adrenal fatigue, gluten intolerance, dairy intolerance, and adult cystic acne, I knew I needed to make a permanent change to my diet and lifestyle. I have always been into eating healthy and exercising, but never realized that the so called “healthy” foods I was eating (whole grains, vegetable/seed oils, dairy, etc.) were the cause of all these ailments. Since I have implemented a Paleo/Primal style diet, my symptoms have improved TREMENDOUSLY and I am finally feeling like myself again for the first time in over a decade.
But here’s the thing….it’s not always easy in this world we live in to eat this way. Most foods, especially convenience foods, contain a ton of nasty ingredients when you read the label, ingredients that do not support a healthy digestive and immune system.
I have always been obsessed with delicious food but up until a year ago, I didn’t know how to cook ANYTHING. And when I say anything, I literally mean I couldn’t even brown burger – what the heck, right?!?! So I ate out all the time. But soon I realized, I’m not a millionaire and maybe it’s time I learn how to cook. I began obsessively searching Pinterest boards and reading Paleo blogs and taught myself how to cook meals for my family using REAL food.
Since that time about a year ago, our entire family has noticed incredible changes in our energy levels and health. I have also developed a deep love and passion for creating healthy, beautiful meals and hope to inspire others to eat something healthy and delicious!!
This blog is to show you that you can be healthy and enjoy your food too! I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as my family does.
